What my clients have to say
I have known Brian Wickersham now for over 20 years. I met Brian while working at one of my very first jobs in San Francisco where we were work colleagues. Brian had a steadfast work ethic then and it is amazing to see how his career path has changed and grown since then.
My husband and I were thinking about placing our house on the market. We decided to meet with a couple of realtors just to get a feel for what we could get for our house. Brian gave us a presentation that just blew all contenders out of the water! His presentation was well thought out, extremely organized and he really walked us through the process every step of the way, so we had no surprises.
When it came time to do the repairs on our house to get it ready to market, everything was seamless and the work was done not only quickly, but the attention to detail was spot on and very much appreciated by us. I would also like to mention that Brian was looking out for our budget as well, which was nice. He will take the cue from the seller about what you can spend in terms of fixes from being on a tighter budget, to a more open and flexible budget.
The other aspect I would like to mention is that Brian did not hand us off to an assistant. He was the one that contacted us, that met with us each time. Some realtors "hand you off," but not Brian. He is extremely honest, transparent, professional, and holds himself to a higher standard.
He marketed our home beautifully, met with our neighbors and introduced himself to them, had them over to see our house after it was ready to go on the market - each step was well done. He marketed our home so well, that we had over 200 people come through in the first hour on the first open house!
We had multiple offers and our house sold for over asking price. I know it was due to Brian's relentless hard work and the great team he hired to make our house market ready. We cannot thank Brian enough for all he did for us!
It was a pleasure working with Brian!
I recently sold my home in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. I went with a man I knew to be honest, kind, and hilarious. He ended up being exactly that and even more. Brian helped my daughter and I through every obstacle and quickly sold our home for well over asking price.
If I'm leaving out the part about patience, above and beyond, it's because Brian gave us such a level of security and confidence without which, we would probably have postponed the sale (and our life).
If I needed anything in the process he would arrange for it. I drove by my house one day and I swear he handed me a cup of Ritual coffee thru my car window on Oak street while I was finding parking nearby. I wish Brian was an App. I'd download him and keep him by my side always.
We had to get our flat ready for a late autumn sale in a condensed timeframe and there were numerous items on our list of things to fix/paint/replace. Brian acted as both our real estate agent and project manager in making sure everything was taken care of and that we hit all the deadlines that we had to make.
He also helped with some difficult conversations that had to be had and was a great sounding board on decisions along the way.
His best work was in the negotiation stage as we had multiple offers and he was able to get us exactly what we were looking to get. We would work with him again without reservation.
S. P. San Francisco
You hear stories. Friends, co-workers talking about the bewilderingly complex process of selling a house. The market variables, legal requirements, costs and potential for financial loss seem insurmountable. Then you get lucky and work with an agent like Brian Wickersham at Barbagelata.
I needed to sell my family’s house in San Francisco. The house had it’s issues. Three generations of my family had lived there and the deferred maintenance showed. It needed painting inside and out - appliances, fixtures, floors, sheetrock, and the back yard required renovating. I thought it would be next to impossible to get the place ready for sale in eight weeks but Brian stepped in and took charge of the entire process.
Every estimate I received from one of Brian’s provided contractors was 20-50% lower than the contractors I had contacted earlier. They were all available, on time, performed the work flawlessly, and made the place look staggeringly beautiful.
Throughout this process, Brian patiently explained every nuance and option - the consequence of every decision, the legal and regulatory aspects, the closing and escrow process. He worked with members of my family that needed hand-holding and reassurance. Not at any time did I feel alone, waiting for the next shoe to drop. In fact, I felt as if I had a trusted partner with whom I could discuss any issue regarding the house. Brian made everything O.K.
The house sold for an amount well beyond any figure I imagined. It would be easy to explain this away as a function of today’s real estate market. The reality is that Brian marketed and showed the house to maximize the interest and sale price. His expertise and exhaustive effort decided the outcome of this sale.
Brian is still working with us, helping with the purchase of a new place. The full service didn’t end with the sale of the house. I am secure that everything will work out well because of Brian’s involvement in this process.
I started out just needing to sell a house - I ended up with a real estate agent for life.
Brian, thanks again for all your help.
